A) Hypnotherapy combines talking therapy and gentle trance – this is where the conscious and the unconscious mind come together to find the right solutions for you. In the sessions we explore bespoke ways for you to get to where you wish to be in life, through mindset shifting and re-writing unhelpful thought patterns. These ideas are then consolidated during tailored trance.
A) The initial consultation is the first step, this is an online session and takes about 30 minutes, it is free of charge. This is a chance for us explore what you hope to achieve from hypnotherapy, for you to understand what to expect and discover how the mind creates things like anxiety and depression.
The regular sessions start with talking therapy followed with trance which is a deeply relaxing experience and consolidates ideas we have discussed where the mind is receptive to positive suggestion.
A) It is a bit like that feeling just before you fall to sleep and your mind is drifting. We actually go into trance several times day - when we are running for example or watching a film; our over critical mind is quiet for a time and our imagination is engaged, giving our subconscious mind a chance to come up with some great solutions. Trance is very safe, you will be conscious throughout and within a clinical setting
A) No, it is nothing like stage hypnosis, you will not have to do anything, you just sit or lie back and let the calm wash over you. You will be in control throughout, just in a deeply relaxed state.
A) Generally we would say anything between 4-10 sessions, however, this differs according to the individual.
A) In theory, yes, however, we often recommend clients to conclude other therapies before starting hypnotherapy so we are focusing the mind on one approach at a time. We find that many people come to hypnotherapy after trying other types of therapy which have not worked for them.
